So what are your thoughts on the Aldershot game Garry?

I'm very very pleased, having seen the commitment and the effort considering it's the eighth game in sixteen days, that's hard at any level of football. You wouldn't let an animal race 8 times in 16 days let alone a human being, so we thoroughly deserved a point, nobody could say any different.

We went in front and its great for the young lad (Sam Smith), seventeen years of age. He's going to be a very good player, he's a very level headed boy. Sam put us in front, after we hit the post in the 2nd half. Then they equalised and your saying to yourself with the fans behind the goal, are you going to melt under the pressure, in respect with the games on top of each other. But again when the questions been asked it's been shown quite a lot, certainly against Aldershot, that never say die attitude.

I don't like to see any player get sent off I really don't, but I felt it was very frustrating to see them chop Lawrence Lambley down when he was clean through on goal to wrap the game up, and it would have at that time, but I'm very pleased with the effort and commitment.

What are your thoughts on the penalty kick?

Being fair I was a long way away to see the penalty incident so can't really make a comment. The players were disappointed because they thought it was outside the box but I can't say much more than that from that angle, I'm just pleased we didn't get beat because it would have been cruel on the players considering the amount of games and being 1-0 in front, getting so close to win the match.

You've mentioned earlier Sam Smith, and we've (BBC Radio Northampton) raved about him recently, is he a player who is going to feature more often next season?

Sam Smith is a young lad 6"2 at the age of 17 and he's still growing, he's very mobile, but he'll certainly be playing a bigger part next season at the club. Another good young player is Jake Beecroft, he had a great shot blocked by the goalkeeper, and put a nice through ball to Lawrence Lambley, but as I said I'm very pleased today there's a lot of plusses, and the supporters have been absolutely first class they've been fully aware it's been a hard year for the Football Club, for me, the staff, the squad of players and for the supporters themselves. When you see them clapping you like that, even after so many games on top of each other, I'm very pleased for their support, contribution and commitment.

From my own point of view I just feel very relieved now I have both of my hands free, because I've had a situation all season where I've been very restricted due to certain players who have big financial contracts at the football club which has made the club suffer and its caused us not able to do what we would have liked to do sooner. But I feel, a year down the line I knew it was going to be a tough challenge this year but really looking forward to having basically my own squad totally by working the finances with club, and not having the same situation I had inherited where 7 or 8 players last year had big financial contracts.

Turning your attention to next season, do you have an idea in your head who you want for next season, players your going to keep, players your going to bring in?

Yes very much so, there's no doubt about that, there will be some players coming in. The chairman and I have freed certain amount up, so I can start work this year straight away, whereas since last March I've not been able to do that but I think everyone knows that. Even though we sold Simeon Jackson to Gillingham, Wayne Hatswell got sold to Cambridge United in effect giving £175,000 to the club which was well needed, and he was well needed but also you mustn't stop players from having the opportunity; one to go to the Football League with Simeon Jackson, and Wayne Hatswell who was 33 and only had three months left on his contract and was offered £25,000 fee, and I wish him all the best because he's a good centre half, but it was business that had to be done.

Saying that we lost in the final of the Setanta Shield which was very hard away to Aldershot, got to quarter finals of FA Trophy where if we took more chances we would have made it to Semi-Finals, we got to 2nd Round of the FA Cup this year and go out to Bristol Rovers who got to the Quarter Final. We ended up this season, not quite as high as we'd like, but if you take everything into consideration this year and also fetching players back into the club such as Andy Burgess, a good bit of business, Phil Gulliver, Challinor and Woodhouse, along with some promising young players coming through, it's not been that bad at all.

What are your thoughts about the best possible aims for next season.

Obviously the best possible aimcould be to win the League!

And Realistically?

Realistically we've got to be up there pushing for the playoffs next year, there's no point saying anything different, I'm used to that from my own experience in the league, I've had a situation this year where it was very hard for me but I was aware of that, I really am looking forward to next season because I feel I've got a new class of players now which I want to push on with. So without a doubt we are going to be a stronger squad next season, and I want to be making sure that we push on for certain for the playoffs; we've got to be! Otherwise the club will be disappointed, it's my squad next season and I will have to take full responsibility, I'm going to work with the finances given by the Football Club to see what I can do now instead of inheriting 2 or 3 other Managers squads where I had players on big wages, paying big settlements out at the football club. It's now a case where we'll work with the chairman, the directors and the playing squad to make a big impression next year.

How is Michael Rankine Now?

He's okay now, obviously he's been rested a bit after getting concussion, so there's a chance of him being involved on Tuesday.

And I guess some of the other injured players are still out such as Marcus Kelly?

Marcus Kelly won't play anymore this season, but we'll see how Ranks is, and hopefully we can win that cup final on Tuesday.

After seeing the response after the game tonight ,its great to seethe fans are getting behind me, they know what I'm doing or having to do, and a lot of people say they're not the easiest fans to win over, but I think what I've been through personally and from what we've turned around and done at the Football Club they can see it going in the right direction, I think they've started to take me in and we're all going in the right direction.
