Contrary to speculation surrounding Paul Bastock being linked in a move to Conference North Outfit, Boston United, Rushden & Diamonds Football Club can confirm that the 37-year-old goalkeeper is staying put at Nene Park for the foreseeable future.

Club Secretary, Matt Wild commented "Talks were held last week between Boston United Football Club, the Player and ourselves over a possible move for Paul, who was expressing a desire to relocate to be nearer to his family.

However, due to a replacement goalkeeper not being secured by the loan deadline, on terms to our satisfaction, we informed Paul that we would not be in a position to release him.

Paul is on contract at Nene Park and will not be joining Boston United or any other football club for that matter. We have an extremely busy month ahead in terms of fixtures, to which all our attentions must be focused upon, to ensure we not only climb the league table but also progress in our forthcoming cup competitions, starting with our trip to either Bristol Rovers or Leyton Orient this coming Saturday in The FA Cup".
