Simon Parsell - its your testimonial year this year, and on Wednesday 12th December 2007 we see the Conference winning team return to Nene Park, tell us a bit about that.

It'll be an exciting evening, obviously I haven't seen some of the boys for a little while now, and likewise they haven't perhaps seen each other for a while. When I was ringing around to speak to the lads there was a lot of excitement about actually getting back together again to see each other, I think it'll be a good evening, it was a successful period in the clubs history, it'll be good for both players and fans alike.

We're going to try and make it like a match evening, and there will be the opportunity for fans to ask questions and see what the squad members are doing now. I've got the majority of the team coming back, the likes of Garry Butterworth, Billy Turley, and Duane Darby to name a few. I think the only person we are missing at this moment in time is Stuart Naylor, we've managed to track Stuart down. We're just really waiting on a reply from him at the moment. Michael McElhatton is coming, he's putting two days aside, he was always a party animal bless him, so it should be a good evening.

So have we got the management coming back as well?

Unfortunately we can't get Brian (Talbot) back from Malta, but we're hoping to set up a phone link with Malta and have a chat with him. Terry Westley is undergoing back surgery this week so will unfortunately be missing too. With the management missing however it may well give the lads an opportunity during question time to tell the truth.

What about Max Griggs?

Max unfortunately cannot make it to Wednesdays event, he was very disappointed to miss it, I spoke to him last week when we had the dinner with Ron Atkinson at the club and he already had a previously arranged engagement for Wednesday night, but again Max is sending some messages for us on the evening, it's a shame he can't make it being such a big part of that era.

We've got the highlights of that season being shown on the big screen as well, so fans can watch them again.

Hopefully we're going to make it like a matchday experience, so fans can come in and buy a programme, with up to date information about that year and information on the lads, there will be football on the big screen and a chance for fans to have their photographs taken with the lads.

Any special memories about that time at the club?

It was just a magical time at the club, to finally achieve Mr Griggs' dream to finally get into The Football League. On the day it was a bit of an anti-climax after the celebrations in the week when Hereford beat Yeovil. But to remember when the fans were carrying Max over their heads in Strikers, and you couldn't even find a space in there, are memories that will always live with you. Finally, to receive the trophy on the day, the celebrations that followed on the day through the streets of Rushden and Irthlingborough were just fantastic.
