Lewis Halford in action for Scotland Under 17s
Rushden & Diamonds Centre of Excellence player Lewis Halford featured for Scotland Under 17s recently in their two International Challenge Matches against Germany.
On Friday 15th February, the Scots lost 2-0 to Germany, with Halford coming on up front as a 72nd minute substitute. On Sunday 17th, Scotland played their second match against the Germans, this time losing 1-0, with Germany scoring their winner with the last kick of the ball. Halford started in this game, again as a striker being replaced in the 50th minute by Michael O'Halloran.
Paul Driver, head of Youth at Rushden & Diamonds said "Scotland brought a very strong squad out to Germany, so for Lewis to be involved was great for him and for the club. They were desperately unlucky to lose to a last minute goal in the second game against a very well established and successful German youth set-up. Lewis also played in an unfamiliar position as a lone striker for much of those games, we hope to see a lot more of him with the youth team in the future."
