Rushden & Diamonds have secured the signing of twenty one year old striker Conal Platt on loan from Weymouth until the end of the season.

Platt started his career at Preston, featuring in their successful schoolboy team, earning himself a move to Liverpool. Despite regular appearances for the youth and reserve teams at Anfield, Platt could not break into the first team and was released in 2006, joining AFC Bournemouth.

During his time at Bournemouth, Platt had loan spells at Morecambe and Weymouth, where he joined permanently in May 2007.

Platt joins Diamonds on loan until the end of the season and has been given squad number 23.

Conal can play both as a forward and a winger, and has earned caps for the Republic of Ireland Under 19s and the English Schools national sides.
