Burgess to become third Diamond in all time appearances.

Providing Andy Burgess plays against Exeter today he will become outright the Rushden & Diamonds player with the 3rd most appearances in the club's history, overtaking Darren Collins and taking his total up to 287 appearances.

Currently Garry Butterworth has made the most appearances for Rushden with 371 and in second place is Paul Underwood with 301.

Signing in June 1997 and then making his debut in a Nationwide Trophy game in December 1998, Burgess came to prominence in the 1999/2000 season where he made his break-through at left wing. Over the coming seasons Burgess made this position his own until he was thwarted by injuries during the Division 3 playoff season. Burgess then later re-emerged in a central midfield position where he managed to help fire Rushden into the then Division Two. Towards the end of the season Burgess took up a role at left back. In January 2006 Andy moved to Oxford for a brief spell however at the beginning of the season he re-signed for Rushden on a free-transfer, scoring on his second debut in the away game at York's Crescent.

We would like to congratulate Andy on this achievement.
