Lee Power Joins Board of Directors
Former Cambridge United Chairman Lee Power has joined the Board of Directors at Rushden & Diamonds Football Club.
Power took over as Chairman at the U's in 2006, where he stayed until January 2008. He proved very popular at the Abbey Stadium, being credited as a major factor in turning the U's around from a struggling Conference team following relegation from the Football League to Conference promotion contenders this season, and he looks set to bring a wealth of football experience and connections to the board at Nene Park.
Chairman Keith Cousins commented "I am thrilled that Lee has decided to join us here at Nene Park, especially considering he had a number of other offers from various Football Clubs including those in The Football League. Lee brings with him a vast amount of knowledge in this industry from which myself and the board will be able to draw from and what with his and everyone's hard work at the Club we will continue to develop the Club both on and off the field and build a brighter future at Nene Park".
Power started his career in football as a youth player with Norwich City, spending time at Bradford, Peterborough and Halifax. Since retiring from Football, Power has spent time as a football agent and has connections with horse racing.
Power commented, "Rushden & Diamonds is a fantastic Club. The Chairman and Board of Directors have the vision to get this Club back into The Football League next season and the Club have laid down the foundations to achieve that aim and I am very much looking forward to being a part of this".
