Taking road safety seriously

Rushden & Diamonds Football Club and the Northamptonshire Police take the safety of ALL spectators and visitors to Nene Park extremely seriously.  Increasingly over the years, visitors have been parking vehicles dangerously along both the A6 trunk road and Station Road in Irthlingborough.  Illegal parking is a hindrance and inconvenience to both motorists and pedestrians alike.

The club and the police are working in partnership and are now informing all those proposing to visit Nene Park for both matches and car boot sales, that thorough enforcement of parking regulations will be carried out where vehicles are found to be parked both dangerously and illegally.

The advice from both the club and the police is to use the car parks provided by the club on the Nene Park complex.

Alan Scott a member of the safety team at RDFC said "I have witnessed myself a number of near misses on the A6 when vehicles that have parked illegally have pulled out on to the road in front of moving traffic.  My advice is to use the Nene Park car parks, enter and exit the complex safely via the A6/Station Road roundabout."

PC Neil Cowley of East Northants Central Safer Community Team commented "Safety is paramount and we will be policing matches and car boot sales to ensure that all vehicles are parked legally, which in turn will mean safely. As a last resort, we will issue parking fines where required and agree with Alan that the ample car parking at Nene Park should be utilised. CCTV covers the car parks, making your vehicles more secure. I've witnessed women with prams having to walk in the main carriageway of the A6, which is a Clearway, because of the dangerous and inconsiderate parking"

Please be safe when visiting Nene Park and use the official car parks.  Officers will be in attendance at games and events and will issue tickets to vehicles found parked illegally.
