Jon Challinor moves to Cambridge United
Rushden & Diamonds FC have today sold midfielder Jon Challinor to Blue Square Premier rivals Cambridge United for £15,000.
Jon, who only had one more year left on his contract at Rushden & Diamonds, passed a medical and signed his contract with the U's this morning.
27-year old Challinor played 45 league games for the Club in the 2007 / 08 season, in a total of 62 matches, scoring 11 goals, after joining the Diamonds from Exeter City prior to the start of that season. He had originally been at the Club in the Rushden & Diamonds Youth scheme until moving on in January 2000.
Club Secretary, Matt Wild, commented "Cambridge approached us with the offer to acquire to the services of the Player on Monday and given the amount of time left on Jon's contract at Nene Park coupled with the deal that Jon has been offered with Cambridge, the Club have allowed Jon to move on".
Rushden & Diamonds FC would also like to thank Jon for all of his efforts and wish him well for the future.
